Australian short films entertain

For immediate release

Eight of the best Australian short films from Flickerfest, Australia’s largest short film festival, were screened on Monday night in Port Moresby as part of the Australia Week 2012 celebrations.

The event was held at the Main Lecture Theatre at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG), and featured top Aussie ‘shorts’, Two Laps, Paris Lakes, Bear, Julian, Fish & Chips, After the Credits, Cross Hairs, and The Op Shop.

The audience which included Australian High Commissioner, Ian Kemish AM, and his wife Roxanne Martens, smiled, laughed and reflected through the humorous and thought-provoking films.

Mr Kemish thanked UPNG for working with the Australian High Commission to make the event possible.

The Short Film Night is one of many Australia Week activities that the Australian High Commission is holding from the 5 to 11 March. Other activities include a community concert by top Australian and Papua New Guinean musicians at Tubuserea Village today, and a concert by the same artists tomorrow night at the Lamana Gold Club. Restless Dance Theatre, Australia’s leading dance company working with disabled and non-disabled people, will also put on a show at the Moresby Arts Theatre tonight.
