The Voice Inc. (TVI) hosted the premiere of its latest documentary film, SARV Legal Desk, at the Moresby Arts Theatre recently. The event drew a diverse audience including representatives from the PNG Government, churches, civil society organisations, and development partners.
Part of TVI’s ongoing ACTION series, the documentary sheds light on the urgent issue of Sorcery Accusation Related Violence (SARV) in Papua New Guinea. It documents the courageous efforts of a coalition led by The Voice Inc. and the Catholic Diocese of Kundiawa, who established the SARV Legal Help Desk in Simbu Province in December 2023. This initiative was a direct response to the alarming rise in SARV—a human rights crisis that continues to devastate communities across the country.
Through compelling interviews and firsthand accounts, the documentary reveals the complex referral pathways navigated by the Diocese, Kundiawa Police, and other partners to deliver justice and support to SARV survivors. The event also featured interactive information booths hosted by TVI's key stakeholders and partners from the SARV Kundiawa coalition, giving guests the opportunity to engage directly with those working on the frontlines of this critical issue.
Australia congratulates TVI and its coalition partners on this impactful premier. We are proud to support the SARV Legal Help Desk and stand side by side with TVI and other civil society organisations in their efforts to end SARV.
