Security Assistant – Technical
Initial Salary PGK37,225
The Australian High Commission, Port Moresby is seeking to recruit a qualified and proficient applicant for the position of Security Assistant - Technical at the Australian High Commission, Port Moresby.
Duty Statement
The successful applicant will perform a range of duties, including:
- Repairs and maintenance of security equipment and infrastructure;
- Preparing requests for quotations and arranging purchase of goods and services;
- Overseeing electrical and other maintenance contractors;
- Undertaking maintenance inspections, preparing reports and performing stocktakes;
- Design and costing of in-house project works within Chancery and residential properties; and
- Records maintenance and report preparation.
Selection criteria
Essential:
- Recognised qualifications in electrical and/or electronic fields.
- Experience maintaining one or more of the following systems: electric fences, intruder alarms and CCTV systems.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising works and designing and costing of minor projects relating to infrastructure and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability in trouble shooting, maintenance programming, inventory management, and stock take of spare parts and equipment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and professionally to clients and staff at all levels.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to work effectively in a small team.
- Must hold a Papua New Guinean drivers licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of English and Pidgin.
- Previous experience in administrative duties.
- Computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook. Experience in using databases, such as TRIM is an advantage.
